Overhearing Conversations

I have overheard two different people at different times and locations state that, "Los Angeles is a great city, but not to raise children".  This statement has really made me pause and has really bothered me.  I wanted to interrupt and tell the people that said this, "So what is going wrong with the children being raised here in Los Angeles?", and "Do you know that there are thousands, if not a million or more children being raised in this city, and you are saying to those parents that they should not be raising their children here?".  It seems a bit of an absurd statement.
